About me

PhD at Penn State

My name is Koustubh Phalak, and I am a fourth year PhD student at Pennsylvania State University in the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department. I started my PhD in 2020, and it started with a rather interesting experience. My first year was completely remote from India, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, and I came here at Penn State in my second year. Since then, I have been working as usual (sometimes wearing masks and gloves, sometimes working from home 😉). My area of research is Quantum Computing, and I have worked on sub-domains such as quantum security, quantum machine learning, quantum chemistry, and drug discovery. For more details, you can have a look at my Publications page! 😄

My research advisor is Dr. Swaroop Ghosh (Personal Page). He is one of the most hardworking people I have ever met, which in turn motivates me to work harder and give my best! 😊

Undergraduate at BITS Pilani

I did my undergraduate studies in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. It started from August 2016 to June 2020. Overall, it was a wonderful experience any undergrad should have and enjoy! After that, I immediately started my PhD work.
